On a visit to Brazil, Professor Eugene Fletcher, from Carleton University in Canada, will present a seminar on “Re-designing biological systems in yeast for useful applications” next Wednesday, August 28, at 4pm, in the Bioagro Auditorium.
Professor Fletcher is in Brazil for a visit funded by the Faculty Mobility for Partnership Building Program (Canada), aimed at the academic activities of Canadian professors in Latin America and the Caribbean. Since the beginning of the year, he has been working in partnership with Professor Wendel Silveira, from the Graduate Program in Agricultural Microbiology.
On Wednesday, he will present to the Viçosa academic community the work with yeasts developed in his laboratory at Carleton University. His group specializes in engineering yeasts to produce chemical products that can be used as biofuels and preservatives in animal feed.
The seminar is open to all interested parties.
