Professors Maria Catarina Kasuya, Denise Bazzolli, Cynthia Canedo and Mateus Santana received their tributes on the evening of Thursday, November 21

Eleven advisors and thirteen students from the Graduate Program in Agricultural Microbiology (PPGMBA) were honored on Thursday night, November 21, at a ceremony celebrating the 25th anniversary of the Centro de Inovação Tecnológica (Technological Innovation Center) of the Universidade Federal de Viçosa (NIT.UFV). The NIT recognized the work of students and staff who contributed to transforming the knowledge generated at the university into technological solutions with economic and social value. The scientists honored stood out in the categories of Intellectual Property (IP) Protection; Knowledge and Technology Transfer; and Diffusion of the Culture of Protection and Innovation.

“This recognition gives us great satisfaction because our program is committed to basic research, but also to more applied research, capable of generating innovation,” celebrates PPGMBA coordinator Wendel Silveira. “Having a significant number of advisors and students among the honorees shows that the program has been efficient in its search for innovation. It is a reflection of the effort of the program and all advisors and students to give back to society.”

The NIT was created 25 years ago to manage intellectual property and promote innovation at UFV. Its goals are to value scientific research, protect inventions and support university entrepreneurship, contributing to economic and social progress.
